Open day to the Planet #7 Water · Eau · Wasser · Acqua · Water · 水 · पानी

New Bowing House – Centre for Planetary Relations · Odemira

The invitation is to dive. A dive into a planetary world of water.

An afternoon designed for everyone, where animated cinema, visual arts, sewing, liquid cooking, books, sculpture, and music intersect. Films about the value of water, colourful cocktails, watercolour-painted tides, hand- and/or machine-sewn water paintings, imaginary peoples made from driftwood, and, to conclude, a concert inspired by the Full Fountains.

An invitation to be in tune with water’s rhythm: the water that floods our days, our bodies, and our lives.

New Bowing House - Centre for Planetary Relations is a space of shelter, creation and encounter, open to everyone. Created within the scope of the Novo Bowing project, it is based in Odemira, in the former Students' Centre. It hosts artistic activities that promote dialogue between cultures and the imagination of new ways of living together.

Curated by Zero in Behaviou with Rita Moreira

Seven animated short films for all ages, inviting viewers to see water as origin, living matter, and a force in constant transformation. Between rivers, seas, rain, and imaginary beings, these films explore water as an essential element for life and a space for connection among humans, other beings, and the planet.

Through diverse visual languages and narratives, each short offers a sensitive and accessible experience that awakens curiosity, listening, and ecological awareness. A cinematic moment where water appears not just as a theme but as movement, rhythm, and a possibility for encounter with the world.

Sewing and Visual Arts
Water paintings to sew and/or machine
with Rita Carrilho, Simi Kaur, and Raj Kumar

Fabrics of all kinds and colours become surfaces for creation. Instead of painting, participants sew. Using fabrics and threads, by hand or with a sewing machine, they create water landscapes: oceans, winds, currents, and liquid movements taking shape in everyday objects.

Tablecloths, small wall paintings, fabrics to cover a water jug, protect bread or fruit, fresh and useful cloths where water is inscribed. A workshop where sewing becomes painting, and the act of making connects with daily life.

Collective Painting
Large Watercolor Mural
with Sandra Sanches and Lúcia Costa

High tides, raging rivers, bursting taps and pipes, sliding groundwater, air currents, wind and rain, cyclones and hurricanes. The world is in free fall and ascent, traversed by visible and invisible forces.

In this humid environment, flowers bloom, and plants branch out, revealing a natural architecture in constant transformation. Through collective painting, a large watercolour mural is created on scenic paper spread over our ping-pong table, designed to be hung on the balcony, extending the pictorial gesture into space.

A workshop where water manifests as matter, movement, and shared landscape.
