“There’s something up there!”
This exclamation gives voice to humanity’s boldest dreams. From mastering fire to reaching the Moon, human beings, forever dissatisfied, keep pushing the boundaries of the unknown. The 13 performers of Akoreacro bring this desire to go ever further into the ring through contemporary circus that is accessible to all and intensely physical.
In Ostinato, Alexandre Markoff paints a vivid portrait of humanity, from its origins to the near future. Bodies move continuously across the ring, eras come and go, and costumes change. Above the performers, a glowing sphere keeps drawing their gaze, like an unreachable Moon, a symbol of the unfulfilled desire to rise higher and surpass their limits.
But nothing follows a straight line. Everything skids, slides and flies in carefully orchestrated disorder, weaving together invention, falls and recoveries. Like the ostinato, a musical motif based on repetition, the show explores cycles, shifts and transformations. The same action, repeated and placed in a new context, creates variations and takes on new meaning, sustained by a constant dialogue between live music and acrobatics.
